A few good things to know…
Before ordering, check out my current policies on orders, returns, shipping, sizing help, and care instructions.
Support the work
Contributions to the Community Gear Fund are earmarked for fellow students who would benefit from sliding scale pricing. This helps me keep gear accessible for everyone in our community. Donations can be one-time or automatically recurring.
My separate Studio Tip Jar helps me to sustain myself as a self-employed craftsperson so I can continue R&D of the gear you’d like to see made available (as well as the small-batch side projects the Studio Muse demands inspires).
Both are available on my Ko-Fi page if you’d prefer to use Paypal.
The full(ish) body of work
A running archive of finished pieces across all categories: kenjutsu gear, tailoring, commissions, personal passion projects, and a few weird things for the whimsy of it
The short story of how and why this white kid from the Great Plains wound up making Japanese martial arts training garments.
Lessons from the wisdom of historical clothing and processes.
The wicked social problems of our time: the textile industry's horrific impact on the environment and skilled laborers, the loss of access when aging artisans retire and niche companies fold, the monster of mass production that sacrifices quality and obfuscates the real cost of making things.
In this essay I will...
How we got here and why:
The making, as it happens.
Playing the social media algorithm game sucks. I'd rather share the process and behind the scenes tidbits directly with you, my community and supporters. I appreciate you.

Stoked about the piece I made or altered for you? I’d love to be able to share that with others who are thinking about working with me.
Promoting one’s own work can be awkward, and working solo in the studio can be lonely. Thanks for helping me reach more people and/or sharing a thoughtful pick-me-up to post on the studio wall for the winter blues times 💙
Have a pic to share of you wearing your new duds? Email me at megthetailor@proton.me or share it with me on Instagram (please let me know if it’s okay to share publicly, or just for my eyes!)
